We Have A Dream…
What is it like to have a dream and begin the journey to making it come true? It’s exciting and scary all at the same time. We have a lot of dreams, but one of the biggest now is to have a facility of our own to use. We could have kennels and a play area where people could come to look at dogs and cats. A place we could call our “home office”; a safe place where dogs and cats could be warm and well cared for until they are either adopted or transferred to another rescue. Right now we are a foster program, meaning the dogs we have are fostered by good people until we can find them homes. There is no single public facility that can be visited by the citizens of the Twin Counties. It would be wonderful to have that. Can you imagine wanting to adopt a pet that has been checked over by a vet, dewormed, vaccinated and will be spayed and neutered? Imagine a single place to meet and visit with several different pets to see if you will find that special connection. So, how will we start working toward this dream? Hard work and your help. We have been studying other local humane societies and rescues all over the country and they have shared their stories of getting started through completion. Having a facility would make more grants available than our current foster program, plus we have some great fundraisers planned and will start those next month. We will also introduce our Legacy of Love Club. For right now here is our wish list which would all be tax deductible:
- A piece of land near a main road that won’t be hard to reach even in snow.
- A building on that land with a concrete floor for easy kennel cleaning
- Running water and electricity
- Space for parking.
- A yard for dogs to play in.
Yes, we know it’s a lot to work toward, but even small steps will get us there eventually. In the coming years of fundraising, this is what we will be aiming for. This is our dream.
