Spay/Neuter

The Twin County Humane Society is dedicated to educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter. “Fixing” your pet will reduce the number of unwanted animals killed at the animal shelter! Ultimately, it is much easier to fix your pet than to have to deal with the consequences.

  • In 2013, of the 1,837 dogs and cats in the shelter, only 290 were reclaimed or adopted, while 1,268 were euthanized.
  • In 2014, of the 1,863 dogs and cats in the shelter, only 321 were reclaimed or adopted, while 1,175 were euthanized.
  • In 2015, 439 dogs and 831cats were euthanized at the Galax Carrol Grayson Animal Shelter.

If you need assistance to spay or neuter your cat or dog and income requirements are met, please call the Humane Society hotline, leave your name and number and your call will be returned.
